HIIT Workout Exercises at Jack City Fitness
Athletes of Boise, it’s time to “HIIT” the ground running and bring your fitness to the next level. High-intensity interval training workouts are a perfect way for busy athletes to enjoy maximum results and impact without taking too much time. HIIT exercises focus on intensity and quality of exercise instead of time spent working out. They are unique in that they are meant to be performed in very brief spurts. This allows for athletes of all kinds to fit HIIT exercises into their fitness routine and find the motivation to stick with it.
What Is HIIT Exercise?
HIIT is a popular training method where athletes perform highly intense “mini-workouts.” These workouts are cardio-based and rather short; they typically last for a half-hour or less…and they are incredibly effective. Many athletes also recommend HIIT for its flexibility, since most HIIT training exercises can be performed with little equipment. Many athletes choose to mainly perform bodyweight HIIT exercises, as they can be done anytime, anywhere! (Lunch break workout, anyone?)
What Are Some Popular HIIT Training Exercises?
As any HIIT fan will tell you, one of the most popular aspects of these workouts is their enormous range. There are countless heart-pumping HIIT workout exercises for athletes to choose from. Many athletes create different routine combinations for each of their workouts! Not only does this wide selection allow for more variety and excitement, but it also allows for athletes to listen to their own needs and have more agency over their workouts.
Some of our favorite HIIT training exercises include:
- Push-Ups
- Squats
- Crunches
- Lunges
- Jumping Jacks
- Presses
How Often Should You Do HIIT Exercises?
Though HIIT is a fantastic way to get fit, any athlete needs to know their limits. Everybody is different, and how often you participate in HIIT training exercises will depend on your fitness level, experience, and personal health. It’s also important to remember that, although HIIT is super effective, it’s not necessarily meant to replace the rest of your cardio sessions. After all, as the name implies, it’s intense; the body needs time to properly recover between workouts. It’s for this reason that we recommend against daily HIIT workouts.
For beginners, 1-2 sessions per week are the best way to start. Once an athlete is more confident with this method, they can add more to their schedules—but it’s best to have a “normal” session between HIIT sessions.
