This is no time to be shy about who you are! Your trainer wants and needs to know the real you in order to properly create an effective routine for you.
- Think About Your Goals
What is bringing you to this training session? Do you want to hone your muscles? Work on your balance? Think long and hard and tell your coach what you come up with.
- Get to Know Your Coach
Your fitness center will have a few options of coaches to choose from. Work with different trainers, and learn about their background and experience. One of them is likely to feel like a better fit than the rest — go with them.
- Express Concerns
Does a certain stretch hurt in a way that feels unnatural? Do you feel like a certain exercise is hindering improvement? Talk to your coach. Honesty is key in this relationship.
- Ask Questions
If you don’t understand why you’re doing something, don’t just sit and wonder — ask your trainer! It’s likely that you’ll learn a valuable new fact.
