Scott moved to the Treasure Valley in 2002 from Northwest Colorado. He started his fitness journey at age thirteen while battling chronic asthma and dealing with school bullies. His struggle with ADHD and an inability to participate in school sports kept him disconnected until his Mom got him a subscription to Muscle and Fitness Magazine. Very soon, Scott was spending three hours a day at the school gym doing power lifting and body building. His pursuit was driven by the knowledge that building muscle might be the only way he’d make it out of high school alive. Within a year, he broke several records at the 113lb weight class and began to get respect from his classmates.
But in 1990, while visiting his dad in North Carolina, he was attacked by a man. He felt helpless against his assailant and realized afterward that it was time to reevaluate his way of training. He had strength and power, but couldn’t defend himself against a smaller, more agile attacker. This led him toward an interest in Martial Arts. Then due to a motorcycle injury in 1995 which led to his inability to continue working a physical job, Scott returned to school, finished his AA, and went on to receive his BA in Corporate Fitness.
He has spent the last 27 years learning and teaching about proper bio mechanics, study of human motion, and using the kinetic chain to link up force and power production in martial arts and other sports. The confidence and discipline he has gained from his years of training in the martial arts, and his love for Jesus allows him to now walk away from confrontation. Scott has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for 15 years. He has two teenage boys named Cameron and Nolan. Raising them up in the ways of the Lord has been the most rewarding privilege.
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
