Mckenzie’s first introduction to Yoga took place in her childhood home with her mom when she was 16 years old as they followed along to a Rodney Yee DVD. Despite her background in cheerleading and dance,Mckenzie struggled through her first practices but found herself craving more. She continued her practice through college where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology in 2011. She completed her first Teacher Training in 2015, and is now Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 and RYT-500 Certified.
As a teacher, Mckenzie emphasizes breath-informed dynamic movement coupled with static holds to not only increase flexibility but to improve strength, mobility, and body awareness. Her practice is rooted in the Ashtanga method with Vinyasa influences, and she believes that anyone can do Yoga. She adapts the practice to meet each student’s individual needs to make the practice accessible to anyone.
